she is rustic gorgeous. no doubt.
Every girl you find on the roadside isn’t trash, and here’s proof. We could not believe our eyes when we spotted those legs on the curb………and left there? Crazy.
The blanket was as garage sale find. Hand knit in super soft wool in a color combination we couldn’t refuse. Nicely felted and used to perfection. Just how we like it. She needed some repairs so we were stumped as to how we could do that and retain the integrity of her state.
Then, like a flash of crafty brilliance, we decided we could spread the love and use her as yardage. Ooooh, good plan. So we cut the size we needed and backed her in muslin for strength and stability. Using knit on a piece of furniture will work, but needs strength of a woven to hold her shape. (and we all know how hard it is to hold your shape)
Then, like all good girls, we waxed her legs. For you furniture up-cycle rookies out there, furniture wax is like good lotion for our woody friends. It is gentle, nourishing, and gives back a matted sheen often lost by years of neglect and often dry conditions.
The Sundance Catalog will be calling, just you wait.
